Well, I guess I am easy to please? On one of my visits to Velassaru I stayed in a Beach Villa with this enormous bathroom and lo and behold; a banana tree right by the shower. :-) Bathrooms are one of the big things that resorts try to eachother with. You would not believe how many square meters are considered needed for 2 pax! ..and of course there must always be an outside shower.
An outside bath is a maldivian invention and it's called "Gifili" style bath, though the original maldivian kind is rather more humble looking than, for example, this one from Velassaru.
Just to make sure even the notoriously shy english wash up as well, there is an indoor shower AND a bath tub. Two basins are legio.
Here is another example; Bathroom in a bungalow on Baros. It is noticable that this one is in their basic level villa...... I am always amazed not just by the imaginative and stunning layout and design, but also by the sheer cost and trouble it must have takekn to get all that high end floor tiles and marble to the Maldives. The cost of freight alone makes me sweat.
...and, always stocked with very high quality bart amenities. L'occitane, Voya, Molton Brown etc
This one is from an Ocean pool villa on Huvafen Fushi. Problem with all these babies is that they are simply too large to photograph! Here I deceided to get the jacuzzi in the middle of hte room, complete with an unbroken sunset view of the Indian Ocean. Never seen so many towels as I did in Huvafen Fushi, and let me tell you, there is some stiff competition. Around 20 of them, and I was staying there by my little self in 220 m2. Hard work, but I bravely volonteered...
..slippers and terry robes you could drown in is a nice detail in any decent maldivian resort. I have a collection at home since they would not dream of washing and using anything again.
I know, it's a really shitty picture, but I wanted to show you another kind of bathromm, this is from Hideaway on Dhonakulhi in the far north of the Maldives. Around 120 m2. Really cool bath with a rubber duck and everything!! If you squint you can just make the little duckie out (yellow dot on the tub). Cute!
Twin sinks....naturally. This is supposed to feel a bit more "rustic", but at a cost of 2000 $/night and your personal butler, that is not the word that immmediately comes to mind. ..What? No, I did certainly not pay for staing there.. :-)
Water Villa Bath on Velassaru. Neat how they have a stone setting around the tub in the middle of that expensive, teak floor. You can just make out the view to the right. Really nice one this.
This one is from a Kandolhu Pool Villa, adore the Bizazza tiles shimmering on the walls.
Outdoor shower in very good taste. Same villa. Kandholu.
Stunning bath room with glass walls, really high ceiling and Alessi fittings and Bizazza tiling absolutely everywhere. Ocean Pool Villa on Kandolhu.
...same villa...206 btw. ;-) In case you'll ever go.
