You will fall in love. Don't tell me I did not warn you. There are no emotional defences against such charm as tiny little Kandolhu excudes in buckets. The perfect beach, the perfect house reef, the perfect accomodation and, not least, the warm and caring hearts of the staff. Marc and Laura steers a happy ship towards the perfect sunset and has managed to attract seaplane loads of repeaters in absolutely no time. I know we were devastated to leave and for all you planning a romantic getaway or a honeymooon. This is just the spot you wished did exist but thought to be impossible. But guess what???? There it is. Just 25 minutes by seaplane from Malé to this stunning resort in north Ari atoll. The Ocean Pool Villas are spectacular, with the infinity pool (your own of course) towards the sunset, but I was particularly taken with the Beach pool villas, being a social beach bum myself. Anyway, you can't go wrong on Kandolhu.
And yes, you will fall in love with each other again too. ;-)
Lillie's Diary has made a sweet little film from Kandolhu
We took the opportunity to visit Kandolhu's picnic island Meerufenfushi (Sweet water island in the native language Divehi). The house reef there were, if possible, even better, and we had a magic afternoon all by ourselves. Robinson luxury.
Wonderful, lush interior! So well cared for too.
This is one of only 3 resorts in the Maldives (there are over a hundred) who have been chosen by Small Luxury Hotels of the worls - SLH. A rather big deal and well deserved.
This is what I like to see - reusable glass bottles for drinking water. Well done!
Going on a sunset cruise with Kandolhu's yacht Ari Explorer.
If we had stayed longer we would have gone out on an over night trip. I would have adored to try to locate some whale sharks. Really lovely boat with ample space for lolnger outings. I must add that it is a resort that is really good value as well. Their All Inclusive plan is very extensive.
My better half in the AMAZING bath room of the Ocean Pool villa.
HAPPY me On Meerufenfushi
Pestering my friends at home with Facebook and Instagram updates from Kandolhu, no doubt. ;-) Can you blame me?
Sunset from our Ocean Pool Villa in December 2014. Makes me all teary eyed.
