Have you, like countless others, dreamt about spending lazy days staying in a villa on stilts i the water? Think - Maldives. Most of the around 100 existing resort islands have their own version of this exclusive and rather odd form of accomodation. Gili Lankanfushi have some of the largest ones, but there are at least 15-20 resorts that have water villas that actually earn the word 'spectacular' without even breaking a sweat. Expensive, you wonder? Need to ask? BUT, if you plan that honeymoon or anniversary it is well worth it, at least for a few nights, to really pamper yourself. The video above is from Dusit Thani in Baa atoll.
Gili Lankanfushi - Legendary Water villas! Svennis, the fotball coach, made headlines here some years back. :-)
I have been fortunate enough to stay in a few of these myself. First time was on Huvafen Fushi in 2009, when these were still a rare sight, and I was totally blown away!!! Huvafen Fushi is still in the running, but many have built even larger and more luxurious water villas since then.
bove a sunset pic from our recent stay on Kandolhu in December 2014. Thw Water Villa there was amazing and as you can see the bath tub overlooks the ocean through floor to ceiling glass walls.
Constance Halaveli, Ari atoll. Stunning Water Villas! Nowadays most villas have their very own infinity pool. Baros also offers beautiful water villas and if it is good enough for Penelope Cruz it is good enough for me!
