While you are staying in the Maldives, at least one visit to the resident spa is an absolute must. The natural surroundings makes for a perfect tropical backdrop to beautiful spa buildings and serene environment. Most of the spa therapists I have encountered are very well trained Balinese young women with warm and bubbly personalities. In Sweden, at least, you go to spa and get a treatment. Here you get an experience. The materials, the sounds, the scented air, the flowers.....it is so relaxing and pure soul healing for a highly strung professional (like myself). :-)
As a couple there are loads of possibilities to be treated together with many different his and hers packages on offer. On Kuredu the have 2 spa and one is over the water. Ending a session of scrub and massage with a floral bath outside watching dolpins with your better half is certainly to be recommended. Raises the fuzz on the back of my neck just to think of it..... even the most reluctant person will no doubt melt away under the magic probing of a Balinese massage. But be warned. These tiny women are MUCH stronger than you can ever imagine. You should Think twice Before asking for the "strong" massage. (As my husband realised a little too late....)
Over water O spa on Kuredu Island resort.
There are endless examples of stunning spas in the maldives and many have over water facilities. Velassaru boasts a huge jacuzzi towards the infinite blue horizon that must be the most photographed in the Maldives. The bath facilities in Baros spa, is like a secret, tropical garden, on Huvafen Fushi there is one under water and on Dusit Thani they have their treatment rooms up in the trees!!!. I would adore a coffee table book called "Spas of the Maldives" or something like that!
